School Championship first, Test series later! International match venue changed

The venue for the only Test match between Afghanistan and Ireland was changed due to the schools championship.

The test between Afghanistan and Ireland in the United Arab Emirates was changed to a local ground. The match was supposed to be held at the famous international stadium, but due to the school championship being held there, the authorities decided to prioritize school cricket over international cricket.

The decision came hours before the start of the Test on Wednesday morning and the Test match was suddenly shifted to the neighboring Tollerance Oval ground.

The Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub confirmed that the move was made due to the Abu Dhabi Schools Sports Championship.

Interestingly, the Zayed Cricket Stadium has a seating capacity of 20,000 fans while the local ground has a seating capacity of 12,000 people.

Matt Boucher, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub, said that it was not our original plan, but the Abu Dhabi School Sports Championship has been organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge from 1 to 3 March 2024. .

In this regard, we immediately sought the cooperation of Afghanistan Cricket. who is the host of this series.

He further said that the ACB administration provided full cooperation. I would also like to thank Cricket Ireland and the Emirates Cricket Board as well as the International Cricket Council for their support.

It should be noted that the series between Afghanistan and Ireland consists of one Test match, followed by three ODIs and three T20Is, which are scheduled in the United Arab Emirates.
