Pickup with the greatest autonomy in the world is launched in China

The pickup truck with the longest range on the market was presented in China by Changan and can travel up to 1,031 kilometers. At least that's what the automaker claims.

The model was revealed at the Guangzhou Auto Show in 2023, but has now received a long-range version.

What's the pickup like?

  • The pickup is powered by one or two electric motors. The single-engine version has 174 horsepower and has an engine mounted on the rear axle.
  • All-wheel drive versions receive two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear. Which brings the power to 268 horsepower.
  • Both have the same autonomy and a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that acts as an electricity generator.
  • The 31.18 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery alone offers an electric range of 180 kilometers, according to the Chinese cycle (CLTC).
  • The secret to the generous range is the combination with the combustion engine.
  • The vehicle is 5.38 m long (or 5.63 m in the version with more cargo space), 1.93 m wide and 1.88 m high and has a wheelbase of 3.18 m (or 3 .43 m in extended configuration).

Inside, the cabin houses two integrated screens: the 7.5″ instrument panel behind the steering wheel and the 12″ main touchscreen. There's also wireless charging and the ability to receive remote updates via OTA.

The basic version starts at 139,900 yuan, almost R$98,000 at the current price without taxes. The configuration with all-wheel drive costs 149,900 yuan (R$ 105 thousand). The longer variants are 1,000 yuan more expensive (R$700).

The top-of-the-line variant, equipped with all options, costs 216,900 yuan (R$151,000).

For comparison purposes, the cheapest pickup truck in Brazil today is the Volkswagen Saveiro, the only one still sold below R$100,000.
