Peruvian Prime Minister Resigns Over Audio Leak

LIMA: Woman's 'expression of love' stripped of prime ministership Peru's PM resigns after audio leaks

Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola said in a statement on Tuesday that he had resigned over the audio leak, foreign media reports said.

The 57-year-old Peruvian prime minister was accused of giving love benefits to a 25-year-old woman, with alleged audio recordings showing Alberto using his influence to get the woman government contracts.

Alberto Otarola resigned Tuesday after the recording was broadcast on the television program “Panorama,” with Prime Minister Alberto denying allegations that he had been framed by political opponents.

He said the recording was made before he assumed the prime ministership in 2022. His rivals have manipulated and edited the recording. In the audio leak, 57-year-old Alberto tells the woman, “Tell me again, my love.” So we can talk. You know these things are annoying and painful, but you also know I love you.''
