Lack of restful sleep can be a precursor to which dangerous disease?

While a full and restful night's sleep each day has numerous health benefits, one study concluded that lack of sleep can lead to a decrease in positive feelings.

This was revealed in a study conducted at the University of East Anglia in which researchers reviewed 154 studies conducted over the past 50 years. The research was published in the journal Psychological Built-in.

A study of more than 5,000 people of all ages found that less sleep can cause people to feel less positive, and that sleep deprivation was associated with higher risks of anxiety and depression.

According to Dr. Joe Bower, who led the study from the university, when people don't enjoy enjoyable activities like seeing friends or watching a favorite TV show, their risk of developing depression increases.

He said that such people cannot mix with people, so the risk of them being alone increases.

“In our sleep-deprived society, people often stay up late at night, but this analysis suggests that less sleep can affect their mood,” Dr. Joe Bower said.
