BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also surpassed star cricketers Kohli, Dhoni and Rohit Sharma in the list of powerful Indians.

The head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has emerged as a more powerful figure than the famous cricketers. In The Indian Express' list of “100 Most Powerful Indians” 2024, he was ranked above Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and the Indian captain.

In this list, Jay Shah is placed at the 35th position while Kohli is at the 38th position. Former Indian captain Dhoni is ranked 58th, besides current captain Rohit is ranked 68th among the most powerful Indians.

The Women's Premier League has also been launched in 2023 under the BCCI chief. Apart from this, India also hosted the ODI World Cup in its entirety for the first time.

Jay Shah was also instrumental in bringing cricket back to the Olympics after 128 years. Cricket will be among the various sports that will be played in Los Angeles in 2028.

The 35-year-old Jay Shah has also been named the most powerful man in world cricket by the Indian Express.

The newspaper further said in its analysis that Shah has already become the youngest Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president while he is also a strong candidate to become the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman.

He has been instrumental in almost doubling the BCCI's share of the ICC's revenue, from 22.8% to 38.5%.

BCCI will now get $231 million annually from the International Cricket Council. Jai Shah now has unprecedented control over the BCCI, which once saw fierce factionalism and power struggles.
