I was invited by Zia-ul-Haq to come to Lahore: Prem Chopra


MUMBAI: Bollywood's famous villain, Prem Chopra said that once Pakistan's former president Zia-ul-Haq invited me to visit Lahore.

Prem Chopra, a senior Bollywood actor and famous for playing negative roles, was born in Lahore but during the partition his family shifted from Lahore to Shimla where he was brought up.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, the actor talked about his days in Pakistan, he said that in Lahore, I lived in Krishna Gali, there were many streets, I stayed in Gali No. 5.

Prem Chopra said that after years someone shot in my house in Pakistan and I got a chance to see my childhood home on television, the host asked if he went back to Pakistan after partition.

On which Prem Chopra said that I had received an invitation from Zia-ul-Haq to come to Lahore, I was in Delhi at that time, I was going to visit Shatrughan Sinha and Yash Johar but I could not go due to some expenses.

Yash Chopra said that 'Jane Lahore nahi vekhiya o jamiya hi nahi' is a Punjabi saying, Pakistani plays are very good, there were many theaters in this city.

The actor added that Lahore was a small city and my father was a government employee, he was transferred to Shimla after partition and we left Lahore seven days ago in 1947.
