Find out more about the social network

The embryo of the social network was implemented in 2009, when software engineers Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger began developing Burbn, an application whose function was to enable users to “check-in” the places visited and share photos .

In 2010, a few months after being launched, the platform changed its name to Instagram and underwent some changes that became crucial in transforming it into a large platform over the years.

During this period, the social network began to allow, for example, users to place filters on images and share their publications on other interaction applications, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Instagram initially arrived on devices using the iOS operating system, reaching Android only in 2012. Facebook purchased the platform a year later for around US$1 billion.
